i can't recall why i stopped on this site? oh well.. should i start up again? well, now i have time on my hands.. but i'm not doing anything these days.. nothing.. just growing another person in my body.. and trying to keep cool about it..

hm.. maybe i'll come back and blog when i have something to say..

Back to the living

sort of.

so, a lot of stuff has happened since last year's blog.

long story short, I became a mom the other day. Since May 22, I've my physically changed from a literal vessel, to now slowly recovering and returning back to my previous physical self but with an addition. This is probably the last time that I'll be babied in my home, with a mom and mother in law, hanging around to cook and clean and cater to my wishes as I lay wounded and exhausted. After this next 25 days, I will be on my own, a mom to my own baby. WOW.

That's all for now.

oh yeah, that little swollen eyed bugger I'm holding is my son, Brandon Xavier Chan, 7lbs. 10oz., 21 inches, born at 10:12pm-Thursday, May 22, 2008. He just cracked his first smile today. Joy!

hello. this is me being rambling.

yes, i work for the hhc at elmhurst hospital.

jmo: social workers are similar to underpaid psychologists, except we don't do 6 years of grad work. we just do two years and our focus is more with social justice with oppressed people and getting them back into their community supports. we don't do ask much research or publishing---but we should. we also don't do psychological testing.

no, i haven't tried out for the amazing race (yet). however, my uncle is going to be related to the "current" participants of the amazing race. Ron and Christina are my uncle's future father-in-law and sister-in-law. so watch watch them and cheer them on! they wouldn't tell us if they won the race or not.

ro: no, i'm not a lcsw yet, in NY. i think i need 3+ years with supervision under an LCSW to get to that level and then take another exam for LCSW. right now, i'm content being an LMSW.

Things I'm looking forward to:

1. departmental holiday party buffets---yum. I'm such a pig.

2. orchestra seats for Avenue Q on thursday.

3. tickets to wintuk with family on Saturday.

Finally, after waiting three months, I can say that I have a job at a nearby hospital. Today was my second day. I can't tell if I like it yet. My first paycheck will have to be another six week wait. Is that ridiculous or what?

Yeah, I have my little part time job to keep busy on the side, but how is one to live!?

On other news, I took the Licensing exam for Social Work and PASSED! I know this sounds like an easy feat, but a couple of my peers didn't pass in the last couple weeks, so I was getting anxious. I am SO relieved now. No more study groups for me!

The pages of the calendar seem to fly off.I can't believe it's almost October 2007. I seriously do not know what I have been doing to occupy my time.

I'm not working full-time yet; hopefully in October I can start at a hospital in Queens. I'm doing odds and ends jobs for my in-laws in NJ and at this counseling center in NY.

Family has been good to me. Rekindling friendships has been rewarding. Alex and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary in Vancouver, British Columbia and Alaska. Life is good, thus far.

edit: I just wasted 30 minutes to unsuccessfully upload photos from our trip to this website. ugh.
